On March 2, 2018, at 06.10 o'clock a fire occurred in a one-story building of the Republican Narcological Center located in the territory of Khatai district of Baku.

The living force and equipment of the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Emergency Medical Service of the Ministry of Healthcare were immediately burst on to the event scene. The security of the territory and the smooth operation of rescuers were ensured by the Specific Quick Police Regiment  of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and by the officers of the Khatai District Police Department.

Thanks to promptly implemented measures, 30 of the 55 people in the building were rescued, 3 of them were housed in the Republican Toxicology Center of the Ministry of Health. The fire was extinguished at 08.30. During the investigation of the scene of the incident, bodies of 25 people were found.

The General Prosecutor's Office immediately launched a criminal case on the fact, and also operational investigations group consisting of experienced employees of the General Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations was formed.

According to the results of the preliminary investigation, the fire occurred due to a failure that arose in the electrical network of the building.
The implemented measures are under the personal control of the President of country.
